Shaboozey was towering over the crowd at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, quite literally! At 29, the guy’s already reached dizzying heights—both in music and, well, physically. The award show on Thursday (September 26) at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, had a surprise guest: Shaboozey’s height. Seriously, the man practically had a zip code for his head!
Our towering troubadour snagged one of the first awards of the night, walking away with the prestigious “New Artist of 2024” title. But here’s where the comedy of errors kicks in: the microphone, bless its heart, was designed for mere mortals, and Shaboozey had to perform an awkward half-bend that would make a yoga instructor wince. Was the mic trying to roast him or what?
With the mic somewhere near his kneecaps, Shaboozey graciously delivered his speech: “I’m so honored and extremely humbled,” he said, which was probably true—since humility comes easy when you’re bending like a giraffe at a drinking fountain. “I never thought in a million years I’d be up here at the Grand Ole Opry accepting an award. Or bending this much in front of all of you.”
But Shaboozey wasn’t done, oh no. He dropped a thank you bomb, and not just for his friends and family in Nashville—nope, this country star threw a curveball by thanking none other than Beyoncé. Yes, that Beyoncé. Was there any explanation? Absolutely not. But in Shaboozey’s world, why wouldn’t Beyoncé be part of his journey?
The moral of the story: if you ever get an award, bring your own microphone—or at least a stool.
