Lights, camera, Selena! And guess what? She’s not rolling solo. Selena Gomez and her squad of stars are out and about in London, making sure everyone knows their new film, Emilia Pérez, is coming, and it’s coming in style. Oh, and did we mention they’re probably going to need a bigger shelf for all the Oscars they’re about to scoop up?
Picture this: Selena, Zoe Saldana, Karla Sofía Gascón, Adriana Paz, and director Jacques Audiard, looking all fabulous and mysterious at a posh photo call at the Corinthia Hotel. (If you don’t know the Corinthia, it’s one of those places where the chandeliers are shinier than your future and the water probably comes from a secret underground spring blessed by movie stars.)
Now, rumor has it – and by “rumor,” we mean The Hollywood Reporter, aka the movie bible – that Emilia Pérez is Oscar bait on steroids. We’re talking Best Picture, Best Director (Jacques is already practicing his acceptance speech, I bet), Best Actress for Karla (move over, Meryl!), Best Supporting Actress for Zoe (her trophies are just collecting dust at this point), and Selena might sneak in for one too. Heck, they might even invent a new category just to give them more awards: “Best Hair Flip in a Dramatic Scene.”
But wait, there’s more! This film isn’t just a Hollywood heavy-hitter; it’s also in the running for Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature. So, basically, it’s winning everything except a free toaster. (Though, wouldn’t that be cool if they gave those out too?)
Now, before you run off to set your Oscar predictions, the trailer’s already dropped, and it’s blowing minds faster than you can say “Netflix and chill.” You’ll want to check it out before the movie lands on Netflix on November 13 and takes over your life.
Fashion alert! Selena’s turning heads in Schiaparelli, Zoe’s rocking Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello like it was made just for her, and she’s dripping in jewels by Anita Ko, because why not? When you’re out here collecting awards, you might as well sparkle like the night sky, right?
