Sabrina Carpenter just gave us all the tea on casting her actual boyfriend, Barry Keoghan, as the love interest in her “Please Please Please” music video. And no, this isn’t some “random person from central casting” situation. It’s full-on Bonnie and Clyde, but with more glam, fewer robberies, and probably way better dance moves.
So, what was Sabrina’s big reason for casting Barry? Was it fate? Destiny? A secret Hollywood casting call where they make actors wrestle for the part? Nope. She simply glanced over at him chilling in a chair and had one of those lightbulb moments, like, “Wait a minute, this guy can act!” It’s like when you need someone to hold your phone, and oh look, your dog is right there, but in this case, her dog is an Oscar-nominated actor.
In her interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Sabrina gushed, saying, “I am genuinely, like, not even biased or anything, but, ‘Who’s the greatest actor I can find for this music video?’” Now, let’s all collectively roll our eyes because, of course, the answer was sitting right next to her, probably eating snacks and already planning his acceptance speech for “Best Performance in a Music Video.” He wasn’t just into the whole acting gig—he was also a fan of the song. Sabrina made sure to highlight that in case we were all worried about whether Barry was just nodding along while secretly jamming to something else in his head. Nope. He’s into it.
And Sabrina didn’t stop there. Oh no. She insisted that Barry is a big fan of her music. That’s right—he’s out here jamming to “Skin” and “Nonsense” like the rest of us. I’m pretty sure the guy is just one karaoke night away from belting out “Please Please Please” in front of his mirror.
Apparently, filming the video together was one of the “best experiences” of her life. Now, let’s take a moment to appreciate this. Sabrina’s been on world tours, starred in movies, and has a Disney Channel legacy, but shooting a music video with her BF takes the cake. Sorry, world domination, but nothing beats being in a fake heist scenario with your boo, while he cheers on your vocals between takes.
