Riley Keough just dropped the mic (figuratively) and our jaws (literally) at the Chanel fashion show during Paris Fashion Week!
Picture this: the 35-year-old actress and professional cool-girl decides that walking the runway is too been there, done that for her. Instead, she swings (literally) into the show, belting out Prince’s “When Doves Cry” while casually hanging from a swing INSIDE A GIANT BIRDCAGE. I mean, if you’re not in a massive aviary at Paris Fashion Week, are you even living?
And yes, this isn’t just any random person with a microphone. Riley is the granddaughter of rock ‘n’ roll royalty—the one and only Elvis Presley. So, it makes sense she’s got a thing for music. She also shows off her pipes on the Prime Video series Daisy Jones & The Six. You know, just casually making the rest of us look like untalented potatoes.
“It was supposed to be fun and joyful,” Riley said, probably while wearing some incredibly chic French outfit. “I felt inspired by, like, French je ne sais quoi vibes.” (Translation: I felt inspired by how effortlessly cool the French are.) She even admitted that she’s not the next Mariah Carey or Adele but hey, if someone hands her a microphone, she’s going to give it a go. “It’s not a career move… at least not right now,” she shrugged. Casual flex, Riley. Casual flex.
Meanwhile, Lupita Nyong’o and Margaret Qualley were chilling in the front row, probably wondering how they could top the whole giant birdcage performance. Both actresses are starring in upcoming films (The Wild Robot and The Substance), but let’s be real—no matter how cool those movies are, it’s going to be hard to compete with a Prince cover while suspended mid-air.
Paris Fashion Week, you’ve been outdone!
