Cancel the royal RSVP and put the tiaras on chill—Prince William and Princess Catherine (aka Kate, Queen of Grace and Really Great Coats) are taking a hard pass on this year’s royal Easter church outing. Yep, the Wales fam is trading holy hymns for home vibes this Sunday, April 20. And no, it’s not because the Easter Bunny told them to stay in bed. (Although…respect if he did.)
So what’s the royal tea? Will, 42, and Kate, 43, along with their three scene-stealing heirs—Prince George (11 and already over it), Princess Charlotte (9 and definitely the boss), and Prince Louis (6, chaotic energy embodied)—are kicking back at their countryside mansion in Norfolk. You know, just your classic “staycation in a literal palace” moment.
Meanwhile, Grandpa King Charles and Queen Camilla will be doing the whole Easter Matins Service thing at Windsor Castle with the rest of the royal crew, keeping the “stiff upper lip and stiff church pew” tradition alive.
This marks the second year in a row the Wales fam has ghosted the Easter mass, and last time it made total sense. It was just weeks after Kate shared her cancer diagnosis with the public, and everyone collectively went into hug-her-from-afar mode.
Fast-forward to January this year, and the princess gave us all some good news: she’s in remission. Huge sigh of relief, major applause, and probably a group hug in the Buckingham group chat.
So this Easter? It’s low-key. No big hats. No fancy footmen. Just five royals in fuzzy socks, probably eating chocolate eggs and pretending not to check royal emails.
Honestly, who among us wouldn’t do the same?
