Lana Del Rey rocked Fenway Park with her very first stadium concert ever! Well, “rocked” might be a bit of an overstatement, considering Mother Nature decided to crash the party.
The Grammy-nominated songstress was all set to serenade her fans at 8:30 pm on Thursday night (June 20), but she must have misplaced her invitation for good weather. The show didn’t actually kick off until a fashionably late 10:30 pm. Thunderstorms were the uninvited guests of the evening, rudely interrupting and forcing fans to flee the field and take cover until the skies decided to chill out.
“Attention, attention! Due to the weather throwing a tantrum, we need everyone to get off the field and out of the open air seating. Please, gather your people and make your way to the shelter inside the stadium concourse. Oh, and try not to panic,” announced a sign on the field. (Not in those exact words, but you get the drift.)
Despite the meteorological mayhem, Lana pulled through and performed 15 songs before the night turned into a pumpkin. And guess what? She wasn’t alone! There were special guests, adding some extra spice to the soggy spectacle.
Here’s the set list, drenched in excitement:
1. A brand new unreleased song! (Ooooh, mystery!)
2. Without You
3. West Coast
4. Summertime Sadness (perfect for the weather, right?)
5. Cherry
6. Pretty When You Cry (tears of joy, we hope)
7. Blue Over You (with surprise guest Mason Ramsey)
8. Ride
9. Born to Die (or get rained on)
10. Chemtrails Over the Country Club
11. The Grants
12. Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd (we didn’t, but thanks for the trivia, Lana)
13. Until I Found You (with surprise guest Stephen Sanchez)
14. Tough (with surprise guest Quavo, adding some rap magic)
15. Video Games (an appropriate end, since it felt like we were in one!)
And that’s how Lana Del Rey turned a stormy night into a memorable, albeit damp, musical extravaganza. Fenway Park will never be the same, mostly because it’s still drying out.
