Kristin Cavallari is spilling the tea (or should we say… broth?) on the time she gave a famous Food Network chef a hard pass. And no, this isn’t just any chef. We’re talking about the grill-master himself—Bobby Flay!
On a recent episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast, the 37-year-old ex-The Hills star confessed to turning down Flay when he made a very saucy move. Spoiler alert: It involved sliding into her DMs with a dinner offer.
The legendary Bobby Flay, 59 and still rocking the apron game, joined Kristin on the October 29 episode to revisit the moment he tried (and failed) to whisk her away for a night out.
“I slid into your DMs, real smooth,” Bobby recalled, channeling his inner rom-com hero. “‘Hey, I’m gonna be in Nashville for one night—how about dinner?’” Smooth, right? Unfortunately, it was less flambé and more flop-bé.
Kristin shut him down faster than a soufflé in a wind tunnel. “I’m already dating somebody,” Bobby remembers her saying, like it was a Gordon Ramsay-level roast.
But Kristin had a slightly different recollection, swearing it wasn’t about someone else. “I think I said, ‘I’m over dating right now.’ Or something…I was just burnt out on the whole scene.” Ah yes, that stage in life where swiping feels more exhausting than CrossFit.
Bobby wasn’t buying it. “No, no, no—You said, ‘I’m seeing someone!’” he teased, holding firm. “And I was like, ‘Look, I just wanna go to dinner! No strings attached!’”
Kristin, probably turning fifty shades of oops, admitted, “Okay, yeah… that was a bit of a ‘foot-in-mouth’ moment.”
In her defense, she pointed out that, “When someone says, ‘Can I take you to dinner?’ it does sound kinda date-y.” Fair point, Kristin. If only Flay had prefaced it with, “Totally-not-a-date-but-wanna-eat-pasta?”
But wait—plot twist! Despite the initial awkwardness, the two did eventually hang out. And guess what? “We had the best time,” Kristin gushed. Turns out, you can reject a Food Network star and still end up having a delicious time. No hard feelings, just a lot of laughs—and probably some really good wine. 🍷
Moral of the story? Sometimes it takes a few kitchen mishaps to whip up the perfect friendship. And who knows—maybe next time they’ll finally make it to that non-date dinner. 👀
