Kieran Culkin Wins Golden Globe After Tequila Shots with Mario Lopez—Chaos Ensues

Buy Me A Coffee

Kieran Culkin, everyone’s favorite sarcastic sibling from Succession, snagged his second Golden Globe at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 5) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. But honestly, the real star of the evening? Tequila.

The 42-year-old actor was absolutely living on stage, delivering a speech that was part acceptance, part comedy roast, and part… tequila PSA? Winning for his role in Jesse Eisenberg’s A Real Pain (a title that clearly foreshadowed his speech), Kieran stumbled onto the stage, tequila-fueled and ready to rumble.

“Oh wow, thanks! This is incredible,” he began, before immediately outing himself. “I’m feeling a little… uh… well, my wife [Jazz Charton] and I just did a shot of tequila with Mario Lopez. Definitely feeling that. Whole speech is gone—terrific Kieran, you’re doing fine. I love the Golden Globes!”

We love the honesty, Kieran. In fact, we’re pretty sure the Golden Globes should make tequila shots with Mario Lopez a thing. Imagine the acceptance speeches!

As the audience roared with laughter, Kieran soldiered on, shouting out his “gorgeous wife,” Jazz, for “putting up with what you call my ‘mania.’” He added, “I’m working on it, I got a therapist now. It’s fine. It’s not fine. It’s a lot of work, we’ll see where it goes.”

Bold move to turn your acceptance speech into a therapy update, but hey, the man’s got range.

For those wondering if the tequila train derailed the rest of the night, rest assured, the Golden Globes continued at their usual mix of glamour and barely-contained chaos. Hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, the show featured an A-list crowd honoring the best in movies and TV. Emilia Perez and The Brutalist led the film nominations, while The Bear dominated the TV categories, likely because no one can resist a show about stressed-out chefs.

Tune in next year, especially if Mario Lopez is handing out pre-show shots again.

Cheers to Kieran, tequila, and the Golden Globes! 🥂
