Katy Perry is out and about, and guess what? She’s in full cheerleader mode for Orlando Bloom!
The dynamic duo turned the red carpet into their personal runway at the premiere of Orlando’s latest cinematic masterpiece, “The Cut,” held on Thursday (September 5) during the 2024 Toronto Film Festival. This grand spectacle took place at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, Canada—where apparently even the royalty know when to watch a good movie.
For this star-studded occasion, the 39-year-old pop sensation, Katy Perry, opted for a black bandeau bra and a matching high-waisted skirt, completed with an embroidered silk black veil. It’s as if she raided a gothic fairy tale wardrobe and came out ready to slay! Meanwhile, Orlando, the 47-year-old ring legend (not to be confused with a boxing ring legend, but we’ll get there), sported a black Celine suit with a white mock turtleneck. Think of it as “James Bond meets the Ghost of Turtlenecks Past.”
Orlando’s movie night entourage included his co-stars Caitriona Balfe and John Turturro, plus the film’s mastermind, director Sean Ellis. Because what’s a premiere without a few extra famous faces?
Here’s the lowdown on the flick, courtesy of TIFF’s synopsis: “The Cut” is about a retired fighter who is so obsessed with getting back in the ring that he’d probably challenge a sumo wrestler to a pillow fight just to stay sharp. The Boxer (played by Bloom) has a singular focus: boxing. And he’s been out of commission for ten years after a nasty cut—probably the kind that makes you question your life choices. He and his wife, Caitlin (played by Balfe), now run a gym, which sounds like a nice life, but, as fate would have it, another boxer croaks right before a big match. The Boxer seizes this golden opportunity to hop back into the ring, but there’s a catch—he has to lose an insane amount of weight in just six days. Enter Boz (played by Turturro), a trainer with a reputation for using every trick in the book—legal or not. It’s like “Survivor” but with more sweat and fewer coconut challenges.
Orlando Bloom’s latest movie is a high-stakes, sweat-dripping, comeback story, and Katy Perry’s there to make sure everyone knows it’s a blockbuster event.
