Joe Jonas just swerved back into solo-ville and he brought tissues and trauma with his latest single, “Heart By Heart.”
At the ripe young age of 35 (yes, our Camp Rock prince is now Camp Mortgage), Joe dropped this emotional banger at the stroke of midnight on April 25 — the most dramatic time to release anything, obviously. It’s the third single off his upcoming album, Music For People Who Believe In Love, which sounds less like a music project and more like a support group that meets on Thursdays.
Following in the heartbreaky footsteps of “Work It Out” and “What This Could Be,” this track is basically Joe softly whispering, “Hey girl, your new man’s a flop and I still remember your soul.” Sobs in nostalgia.
Let’s talk lyrics:
“Well, if he don’t ever light your spark / Remember, I know your heart by heart…”
Translation: “Your new dude probably forgets your birthday. I, however, know your Starbucks order, your favorite sad playlist, and that weird thing you do when you’re nervous. Boom.”
And then the chorus comes in, repeating “I will always remember” so many times, even Dory from Finding Nemo would be like, “OKAY, WE GET IT!”
But wait — there’s more! Joe also performed this emo anthem live at an event in NYC that sounds like a marketing fever dream: Heineken and Joe Jonas Get Social Off Socials. Yes — real people, real music, and zero doom-scrolling. Just you, Joe, and an overpriced IPA.
So what’s next for Mr. Jonas? Well, apparently this is just the beginning of a Jonas takeover, with multiple solo albums dropping like it’s 2008 again. Except now we have back pain and responsibilities.
Long story short: Joe Jonas still has the power to ruin your mascara and maybe your relationship. Stream “Heart By Heart” responsibly — and tell your ex not to text you. Joe already beat him to it.
