Jodie Turner-Smith is taking estranged hubby Joshua Jackson to court—and not for a Dawson’s Creek reunion. Nope, this drama is all about dollars, cents, and some promises that apparently came with an expiration date.
On Monday (December 23), Jodie, star of The Agency, filed court documents alleging that her ex, Joshua—a.k.a. the guy you probably still call “Pacey”—has not exactly been generous since their split in October 2023. And by “not generous,” we mean he hasn’t ponied up a dime in child or spousal support. Not one.
But don’t worry—Jodie came with receipts. According to TMZ, she’s asking for $8,543 a month in child support for their 4-year-old daughter, Juno. (Yes, Juno, because this kid already sounds cooler than all of us combined.) But wait, there’s more! She’s also seeking a casual $28,641 a month in spousal support until the ink dries on their divorce papers. Honestly, why stop there? Throw in a Starbucks gift card while you’re at it, Josh.
For those just tuning in, Jodie and Joshua’s love story started in 2018, got a shiny engagement ring a few months later, and culminated in a wedding in 2019. By April 2020, they welcomed little Juno, who probably already has a better wardrobe than you. Fast forward to 2023, and things are not exactly peachy in paradise.
Here’s where the plot twist kicks in: when Jodie first filed for divorce, she reportedly told the court, “Nah, don’t worry about spousal support.” But now? She’s singing a different tune, and that tune sounds a lot like, “Pay me my money!” She’s also asking for $250,000 to cover attorney fees and other legal costs because lawyers don’t work for free, and neither does Jodie’s patience.
In a spicy new detail, Jodie claims Joshua made some big promises during their relationship. Apparently, he said he’d always have her back financially and make sure their daughter would never want for anything. Oh, and he specifically mentioned understanding how tough it is to be a Black woman and a single mom. Big talk, Josh! But according to Jodie, that talk turned into tumbleweeds the moment she filed for divorce.
Now, she says he’s backing out faster than Pacey’s boat from Capeside Harbor, offering her a settlement that’s far below what she thinks she’s owed. In short, Jodie wants her fair share, and Joshua might want to start checking under his couch cushions for spare change.
Stay tuned—this courtroom drama is shaping up to be better than a prime-time soap opera.
