Justin Baldoni, the director and also the guy who managed to star in It Ends With Us, has decided to drop some truth bombs about the rumored drama behind the scenes. In a recent interview, the 40-year-old director/actor/part-time circus juggler confessed that one of his biggest hurdles was dealing with the “personality Olympics” on set.
Speaking to Elle UK, Justin said, “Acting and directing at the same time is like trying to juggle flaming torches while riding a unicycle on a tightrope. Especially with a project this intense. Playing Ryle was like carrying a truckload of emotional baggage while also being the tour guide for a circus of egos.”
He added, “Every day on set felt like a new episode of ‘Survivor,’ with everyone bringing their own quirks and sparks of drama. But guess what? All that chaos is like the secret ingredient in grandma’s soup—it makes the final product extra flavorful. The friction, the drama, and the occasional thrown chair are what turned this project into something spectacular. It’s like life’s way of making sure you’re not just coasting through. I learned a ton, grew as a filmmaker, actor, and as a person—basically, I came out of this film like a more enlightened, and slightly more frazzled, human being.”
In case you missed it, Justin directed the film and also took on the role of Ryle, the guy who’s about as charming as a porcupine in a balloon factory. The movie dives into some heavy stuff, including Ryle’s not-so-great domestic habits, so buckle up!
