With the countdown to the July 26 release date of her eagerly anticipated debut album, ‘Y2K,’ winding down faster than a toddler on a sugar rush, Ice Spice is giving music lovers yet another reason to scramble to digital shelves like they’re running from a bee.
Already winning over listeners with her latest string of singles, including the cheekily titled ‘Think U the Sh*t (Fart),’ the illuminating ‘Gimmie A Light,’ and the bootylicious ‘Phat Butt,’ the GRAMMY nominee dropped a fresh new bop on Friday (July 12) – ‘Did It First.’
In this latest track, Ice Spice spills the tea and then some with lyrics that would make even the most seasoned gossip blush. She raps in the chorus with a swagger that can only be described as sassy:
“If he’s cheatin’, I’m doin’ him worse (Like)/ No Uno, I hit the reverse (Grrah)/ I ain’t trippin’, the grip in my purse (Grrah)/ I don’t care, ’cause he did it first (Like)/ If he’s cheatin’, I’m doin’ him worse (Yeah)/ I ain’t trippin’—/ I ain’t trippin’, the grip in my purse (Like)/ I don’t care, ’cause he did it first.”
The track is produced by RIOTUSA and marks her first musical tango with Central Cee. It’s the kind of collaboration that makes you wonder if they recorded it while high-fiving each other for being so awesome.
To top it all off, the tune’s release was paired with a music video that’s as spicy as a jalapeño in a heatwave. Directed by Ice Spice herself along with Edgar Esteves and Nikita Vilchinski, the video is a visual feast of action-packed scenes that’ll have you glued to the screen like a kid to a candy store window.
Check out the action below and try not to dance along – we dare you.
