Beloved actor and reality TV chaos agent Paul Danan has had his cause of death officially confirmed, and, well… let’s just say, the man did not do things halfway.
Paul, who shot to fame as Sol Patrick on Hollyoaks, sadly passed away in January at the age of 46. And according to the BBC, his cause of death was a rather overwhelming cocktail of heroin, methadone, codeine, pregabalin, cocaine, zopiclone, and—because why stop there?—a side serving of benzodiazepines. Basically, if it was in a pharmacy, Paul had it.
Paul’s career started young, with early roles on EastEnders, The Queen’s Nose, and Casualty—which, in hindsight, might’ve been foreshadowing. But it was Hollyoaks that made him a household name (or at least “that guy from Hollyoaks” in many households).
Not content with just being a soap star, Paul dived headfirst into reality TV. He graced our screens in Come Dine With Me, Celebrity Love Island, and Celebrity Big Brother, where he provided top-tier unhinged entertainment. He also had a podcast, The Morning After With Paul Danan, from 2019 to 2023—because why not talk about all the wild nights out?
Paul’s passing is truly sad, and he’ll be missed by friends, family, and the countless fans who adored his larger-than-life presence.
RIP, Paul—gone too soon, but leaving behind a legacy of peak TV gold. 💔
