The Golden Globes 2025: a night of glam, gaffes, and Glenn Close getting bleeped. Yes, the 77-year-old acting legend and three-time Golden Globes champ was tasked with handing out one of the night’s biggest awards—Best Motion Picture, Drama—during Sunday’s show (January 5) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, aka “Celebrity Zoo Central.”
Everything was going smoothly until Glenn grabbed the mic and decided to sprinkle a little spice into the evening. But wait—what’s this? A censor button slamming down faster than an actor grabbing their champagne when the camera pans away?
So, what got the network sweating?
In true icon fashion, Glenn kicked off her speech with a throwback to an epic Katherine Hepburn letter she owns (because of course, Glenn has legendary pen pals). The letter described their profession as “this terrible profession, this terrifying profession,” but also, and I quote, “this delicious way to spend your life.” Aww, poetic, right?
Then Glenn, clearly feeling her legendary oats, dropped the F-bomb heard only by the audience in the room and probably the guy working the bleep button: “We are all so f—ing blessed and lucky.” Cue the gasp, the censorship, and maybe a few spilled martinis.
Not missing a beat, Glenn kept it classy (as only she can), celebrated the fact that Hollywood’s finest were gathered under one roof, and handed the coveted award to The Brutalist. Somewhere in the crowd, someone was probably thinking, “Should we rename the award to ‘Most Likely to Be Introduced by Glenn Close’s Filter-Free Wisdom’?”
And that’s how Glenn Close became the unscripted highlight of the 2025 Golden Globes. Someone get this woman another award—Best Use of a Bleep Button, perhaps?
