Oh boy, here we go again: Donald Trump’s campaign is caught in yet another game of musical whack-a-mole, battling unauthorized song use for the second time in a single week. The latest victim? The Foo Fighters’ iconic anthem, “My Hero,” which blared out at a rally in Glendale, Arizona. Trump wasn’t introducing his new hairpiece, though – it was Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who had just bowed out of the Presidential race and passed the torch (and apparently the aux cord) to The Donald.
Now, when asked on X (you know, what Twitter is calling itself after a midlife crisis) whether the Foo Fighters had graciously allowed their song to be used, the band’s response was as brief and to the point as a drumstick to the face: “No.”
But wait, there’s more! A Foo Fighters spokesperson chimed in, looking like they’d just bitten into a lemon. “Not only did they not ask permission, if they had, we would’ve given them a solid, ‘HECK NO!’ And now, brace yourselves, because we’re seeking ‘appropriate actions.'” That phrase is code for: Someone’s about to get lawyered up.
But the real kicker? Every single cent the band earns from Trump’s rogue playlist will be donated straight into the war chest of Kamala Harris, his political nemesis. Talk about adding insult to injury – it’s like stealing someone’s lunch money, and then that money gets donated to fund a rival bakery.
Oh, and if you thought this was just a one-off offense, think again! Earlier this week, Beyoncé also found herself dragged into the Trump Jukebox of Doom. Apparently, the campaign tried to use her song, but Queen Bey was having none of it. Instead, she gave a royal nod to Kamala Harris to use “Freedom” in her campaign. Because nothing screams freedom like snatching tunes from superstars who are definitely not Team Trump.
Trump’s playlist is turning into a greatest hits album of lawsuits, with the artists’ revenge being sweeter than a perfectly executed guitar solo. The real question is: who’s next? Maybe he’ll try to use “We Will Rock You” and get a cease-and-desist letter from Queen, followed by a surprise visit from Freddie Mercury’s ghost. Stay tuned!
