Hold onto your kimchi, because Pachinko is back!
This past Monday (July 22), Apple TV+ dropped the first trailer for the much-anticipated second season of Pachinko, based on Min Jin Lee’s novel. It’s been over two years since season one graced our screens, but who’s counting? Certainly not us, with our impeccably good sense of time.
Starring the ever-dreamy Lee Minho, the legendary Yuh-Jung Youn, the effortlessly talented Minha Kim, and a bunch of other fabulous folks like Anna Sawai, Jin Ha, Eunchae Jung, Soji Arai, and Sungkyu Kim, this star-studded cast is ready to knock your socks off—assuming you’re wearing socks, of course.
Now, here’s the lowdown: “Based on The New York Times bestselling novel, Pachinko is a sweeping, deeply moving story that will have you grabbing tissues and questioning your life choices. It spans four generations of love, survival, and drama, all seen through the eyes of the formidable matriarch, Sunja (played by the inimitable Youn Yuh-jung). In season two, we pick up in Osaka in 1945, where Sunja is making some seriously tough calls for her family during World War II. Meanwhile, in 1989 Tokyo, Solomon is trying to kickstart his life again—think of it as Tokyo Drift, but with more feelings and fewer car chases.”
Mark your calendars, set your alarms, and maybe even hire a skywriter because Pachinko returns for its second season on August 23. Don’t miss it, unless you enjoy feeling left out!
