Finn Wolfhard—aka the forever cool kid from Stranger Things and honorary member of the Soft Boy Hall of Fame—is 22 years old and, plot twist, still lives with his parents. And before you clutch your pearls or yell “Grow up, Finn!”—relax. He’s not mooching off anyone. He’s vibing, thriving, and doing laundry with Mom like a legend.
In an interview with People (yes, the serious one, not your Aunt Karen’s Facebook status updates), Finn spilled the beans about his living situation. Turns out, he did try the solo adult life for a bit. “I lived alone for a few years,” he said, probably while surrounded by empty pizza boxes and IKEA furniture he never finished assembling. “Then I moved back in with my family for a year.” Classic boomerang move. We respect it.
But don’t worry, this isn’t a “he sleeps in a twin bed surrounded by vintage action figures” situation. “We have a place in Vancouver. We all have our separate space, but we still live together, and it’s great,” Finn clarified. Translation: everyone has their own room, no one’s fighting over the bathroom, and Mom’s not barging in with a laundry basket anymore. Growth!
Why is he back in the fam nest, you ask? Simple: home-cooked meals and free Wi-Fi. Okay, maybe not exactly that, but close. “I rarely get to see my family,” Finn said. “So if I’m going to be away for most of the year working, I might as well have a place to come back to with my parents.”
Aww. So wholesome. It’s giving emotionally intelligent king energy. Meanwhile, the rest of us are just trying to get our landlords to fix the heater without ghosting us.
And in other Finn news (because this boy stays booked and deep), he recently opened up about how important mental health care is, especially for child actors. Because yes, behind every kid who fights monsters on screen is a human who just wants therapy, snacks, and maybe a nap.
So next time someone tries to roast Finn for living at home, remember: he’s saving money, eating real meals, and has probably never had to unclog a shower drain full of his own hair. That’s not lazy. That’s genius.
