Donald Glover Postpones The Remaining Dates For The Childish Gambino Tour

Buy Me A Coffee

Donald Glover—aka Childish Gambino, aka Troy from Community, aka your favorite multi-talented human—has officially pressed the “pause” button on his final North American tour. The 40-year-old actor, musician, and guy-who-can-do-literally-everything revealed the news Monday (September 9) via social media, which is where all the world’s drama unfolds nowadays.

Picture this: You’re hyped, you’ve got your tour tickets, maybe even planned the perfect outfit to scream-sing “This Is America” in public, and then boom—Gambino himself slides into your feed like, “Yo, about that tour…”

“Hey everyone,” he begins—because starting with “Hey everyone” makes it sound like he’s casually addressing a family dinner, not dropping a bombshell.“Unfortunately, I have to postpone the rest of the North American tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks.”

Translation: His body pulled an emergency brake and said, “Nope, we need a time-out.” Honestly, relatable.

But don’t burn your tickets in a fit of rage just yet! “Hold onto your tickets,” Glover adds, because clearly, he’s got future plans. “ALL tickets will be honored for the upcoming dates in North America when they are rescheduled.”

And in case anyone was thinking of sending him 17 DMs to ask about his wellbeing, he signed off with a triple thank-you combo: “Thanks for the privacy. Thanks for the support. Thanks for the love.” Basically, “Please stop asking me if I’m okay, Brenda.”

Now, before we start panicking, Glover hasn’t spilled any specific tea on why he’s stepping back. All we know is, his body said, “Take a seat, sir.” So, we’re sending him all the good vibes, healing crystals, essential oils, or whatever magic is needed.

The tour, which had about a month left, was scheduled to hit Austin, Texas, tomorrow (September 10). From there, it would’ve blazed through the West Coast and Midwest, wrapping up in Chicago on October 3. And don’t forget—this party was supposed to go international, with Europe, New Zealand, and Australia lined up like a world tour of awesomeness.

While we might be waiting a bit longer to see Childish Gambino tear up the stage, we’re wishing him the best—and praying to the concert gods that we get to see him soon.

Stay strong, Donald! We’re holding onto our tickets like they’re golden.
