Chappell Roan is riding the wild rollercoaster of fame, and boy, is she giving us a front-row seat to her journey! The 26-year-old sensation behind the hit “Good Luck, Babe” just had a chat with The Face for their latest cover story, and let’s just say, she’s not holding back.
In her interview, Chappell made it clear she’s not exactly chomping at the bit for a Grammy. In fact, she’s practically praying for a Grammy-less existence. Why? Because, according to Chappell, winning one would just mean more people bugging her: “My mom’s dying to go to the Grammys or the Brits, but I’m kind of hoping I don’t win. That way, I can say, ‘Look, we didn’t win. Goodbye, world!’ And then I won’t have to deal with this circus again!”
Despite being the odds-on favorite for Best New Artist and possibly snagging nominations in every major category—Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year—Chappell’s got some serious plans. And by serious, we mean she’s currently battling an inner voice that’s like, “Why don’t you just quit and take a nap for a year?”
She’s definitely feeling the pressure, noting, “This industry loves to feast on mental breakdowns, burnout, and sleepless nights. The sicker you are, the bigger you get. It’s like they’re running a competition for who can be the most miserable. And I’m over here trying to figure out how to not hate my job, my life, or myself.”
Chappell also shared a delightful anecdote about autograph hunters at the airport. Picture this: fans chasing her down, only to lose their minds when she declines to sign. Her reaction? “If things get too sketchy, I might just quit. It’s dangerous now, but I’m still hanging in there. It’s like having an obsessive ex who just won’t quit. I didn’t realize fame would come with this much emotional baggage.”
