Chappell Roan is riding the wild rollercoaster of fame, and boy, is she giving us a front-row seat to her journey! The 26-year-old sensation behind the hit “Good Luck, Babe” just had a chat with The Face for their latest cover story, and letโs just say, sheโs not holding back.
In her interview, Chappell made it clear sheโs not exactly chomping at the bit for a Grammy. In fact, sheโs practically praying for a Grammy-less existence. Why? Because, according to Chappell, winning one would just mean more people bugging her: โMy momโs dying to go to the Grammys or the Brits, but Iโm kind of hoping I donโt win. That way, I can say, โLook, we didnโt win. Goodbye, world!โ And then I wonโt have to deal with this circus again!โ
Despite being the odds-on favorite for Best New Artist and possibly snagging nominations in every major categoryโAlbum of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the YearโChappellโs got some serious plans. And by serious, we mean sheโs currently battling an inner voice thatโs like, โWhy donโt you just quit and take a nap for a year?โ
Sheโs definitely feeling the pressure, noting, โThis industry loves to feast on mental breakdowns, burnout, and sleepless nights. The sicker you are, the bigger you get. Itโs like theyโre running a competition for who can be the most miserable. And Iโm over here trying to figure out how to not hate my job, my life, or myself.โ
Chappell also shared a delightful anecdote about autograph hunters at the airport. Picture this: fans chasing her down, only to lose their minds when she declines to sign. Her reaction? โIf things get too sketchy, I might just quit. Itโs dangerous now, but Iโm still hanging in there. Itโs like having an obsessive ex who just wonโt quit. I didnโt realize fame would come with this much emotional baggage.โ
