Picture this: you’re Channing Tatum, you’ve just posted about your girlfriend, Zoe Kravitz, on the ol’ Insta, giving a nod to your upcoming movie project together. Life’s good, right? Then BOOM. A few hours later, the internet erupts with news that you and said girlfriend have broken up after three years. Ouch.
Yep, on October 30, the world learned that the Hollywood pair decided to call it quits, nearly a year after they got engaged. Talk about Halloween horror stories! Right before the breakup news dropped, though, Channing apparently went full “supportive boyfriend mode” and reposted a casting announcement for the movie Alpha Gang, which he and Zoe star in together. It was a heartwarming (if ironic) nod to the woman he technically wasn’t dating anymore.
So, what’s Alpha Gang all about? Besides being the most “this-is-awkward” film promo ever, the movie features an impressive cast lineup: Cate Blanchett, Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, Léa Seydoux, and Riley Keough will all join Channing and Zoe in what’s probably Hollywood’s wildest group project since they decided to make three Magic Mikes.
Fans of the former couple will remember that this isn’t their first rodeo together, either. Earlier this year, they collaborated on Zoe’s directorial debut, Blink Twice. And at the time, Channing wasn’t shy about gushing over her creative genius. Now, here we are with both their personal and professional worlds colliding in a way neither could have scripted.
As we await the release of Alpha Gang, one thing is for sure: it’s going to be one wild press tour. We’re guessing lots of “we’re still great friends” comments and maybe a few “oh yeah, the Insta post… about that” moments.
