Camila Cabello, the queen of hair switch-ups, has returned to her roots. Literally. The 27-year-old decided she was done pretending to be a blonde bombshell as she rolled up to the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards at UBS Arena in New York on Wednesday. Fans are losing their wigs over this one (Camila clearly already did).
After spending the year flaunting her inner Goldilocks for her latest album C,XOXO, Camila was like, “Nah, I’m good,” and flipped the script. Blonde Camila? Out. Brunette Camila? In. It’s like the musical version of that one friend who shows up to every party with a different hair color, and you have no choice but to respect it.
But that’s not all. Oh no, this wasn’t just a hair flip. Camila is set to light up the VMAs stage as a performer. And if that wasn’t enough, she’s nominated for not one, but two awards, because apparently, she doesn’t sleep. The nominations include Best Pop and Best Trending Video for her track “I Luv It” with Playboi Carti, because she’s the gift that keeps on giving.
Just last week, Camila dropped the Magic City Edition of her album, as if anyone asked for more magic. Spoiler alert: we did. And, of course, she released a music video for her new song “Godspeed,” where—wait for it—she literally changes from blonde to brunette at the end. Subtle, right?
