Brittany Cartwright is spilling all the tea after officially pulling the plug on her marriage to Jax Taylor.
This week, Brittany, a fresh and fabulous 35, legally asked for a Jax-free future after six months of “solo mission training.” Jax, meanwhile, at a distinguished 45, is probably somewhere pondering life while trying to figure out how to operate a Keurig.
On Friday’s episode (August 30) of When Reality Hits—the podcast they once co-hosted (but probably not anymore unless there’s a BOGO deal on therapy)—Brittany gave the 411 on what led her to drop the D-bomb (that’s “divorce” in case you were wondering).
“It’s been a big week,” Brittany began, probably sipping something soothing like chamomile while practicing her newly single yoga poses. “Sadly, I can’t spill all the juicy details, because you know… reality TV contracts. But, spoiler alert, you’ll see the drama unfold on The Valley soon. Honestly, it’s been the hardest season to film. Who knew reality TV would require actual reality?”
Just a recap for those tuning in late: Brittany and Jax, who went from Vanderpump drama to marital karma in 2019, share an adorable son named Cruz (aka the kid who probably already has more Instagram followers than you). But after separating in February 2024, Brittany’s made it official—she’s moving on.
Also on the podcast, Brittany opened up about how totally not fun it’s been to go through a breakup while the entire world’s munching on popcorn, waiting for the next plot twist.
“I never thought I’d be the star of my own emotional soap opera with everyone tuning in,” she said. “I’m not here for pity points, though. I know, I signed up for this. But still—ouch, y’all.”
And for those conspiracy theorists wondering if this whole divorce thing is just some big PR stunt? Brittany was quick to shut that down, probably rolling her eyes so hard they’re still stuck in the back of her head.
“No, this is not for publicity,” she said. “Listen, I didn’t wake up one day and think, ‘What’s the next great marketing plan? Oh right, divorce!’ This decision took years, like YEARS of contemplating, surviving toxic vibes, and rediscovering my worth. And trust me, my son, Cruzie, deserves a mama who’s thriving—not just surviving.”
With all the grace of a woman who just upgraded her life, Brittany signed off with one final note: “Jax and I will be doing the podcast separately from now on. So, if you hear him rambling about Star Wars or buffalo wings, that’s on him.”
And thus, the next chapter begins. Stay tuned for Brittany’s reality-TV-powered glow-up!
