Bridget Jones is back in town – and she’s got two new love interests, one major heartbreak, and a slew of dating app disasters to keep things spicy! Yes, our favorite slightly disastrous Londoner, played again by the eternally fabulous Renée Zellweger, is diving back into the dating pool – and she’s trading in her cozy, married mom life for one filled with chaotic romance and comically bad advice from friends.
First Off, Pour One Out for Mark Darcy
Now, let’s get to the sob part. Mr. Perfectly Proper himself, Mark Darcy (yep, that’s Colin Firth, the guy who could make “lawyer chic” a style trend) has tragically departed. He was killed on a humanitarian mission in Sudan, proving once and for all that the universe truly has it out for Bridget’s happily-ever-afters. Left widowed, Bridget’s balancing mom life with two kids, 9-year-old Billy and 4-year-old Mabel, and wrestling with the kind of existential crisis that can only be cured by too much wine, her best friends, and… dating apps.

Thanks to her “Urban Family”—Shazzer, Jude, Tom, her officemate Miranda, her eccentric mother, and the always delightful Dr. Rawlings (Emma Thompson)—Bridget gets herself back out there. But this isn’t the old days when she’d casually run into charming Brits in snowy fields. No, now she’s swiping right and left with the rest of us mere mortals. Her new suitor? A dashing younger man (Leo Woodall), who’s probably still young enough to ask what the floppy disks in her drawer are for.
Mr. Right… and Mr. Possibly Also Right?
So, what’s Bridget got on her plate? A lot, as usual. There’s the romance whirlwind, the drama of her son Billy missing his dad, and a slightly off-kilter “should we date or nah” vibe with her son’s ultra-logical science teacher (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor). Turns out, being a single mom isn’t as simple as letting the kids run wild while you order takeout and watch reality TV. Nope, she’s also got to contend with perfect mums at the school gates who probably meal-prep and have “systems” for things (ugh), plus navigate her own wobbly job balance with all the finesse of a high heel on ice.
