Attention, Piano Man fans! Billy Joel is hitting the pause button on his tour—not because he’s tired of playing “Uptown Girl” for the millionth time, but because he just had surgery and needs some R&R. Hey, even legends need a break!
In an Instagram post that probably made at least one die-hard fan clutch their chest dramatically, Billy announced that he’s pushing back several shows in cities like Detroit, Toronto, Syracuse, and Salt Lake City so he can properly recover. The new dates are set for either later this year or checks notes… way off in 2026.
“Billy Joel’s upcoming concert dates will be rescheduled due to a medical condition,” read the official statement. “The tour will be postponed for four months while he recovers from surgery and undergoes physical therapy under his doctors’ watchful eyes.” (Let’s hope his doctors are not the kind who sing “Doctor My Eyes” by Jackson Browne while treating him.)
Joel himself chimed in with an update, saying, “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first.” In other words, no, you will not be getting a Billy Joel concert with him rolling onto the stage in a hospital bed with an IV stand—though, admittedly, that would be a pretty rockstar move.
But don’t panic, Joel Nation! All tickets from the original dates will be honored, so you will still get to belt out “We Didn’t Start the Fire” while making up half the lyrics (it’s okay, we all do it).
And now, for your scheduling convenience, here’s where and when Billy will be tickling the ivories after his well-deserved healing time:
🎹 November 15, 2025 – Detroit (Billy Joel & Stevie Nicks) @ Ford Field
🎹 March 14, 2026 – Toronto @ Rogers Centre
