Ayo Edebiri & Will Sharpe Are Teaming Up for a TV Show About Ex-Child Prodigies Having a Grown-Up Crisis—And We’re Already Obsessed

Buy Me A Coffee

Ayo Edebiri (yes, our girl from The Bear who can roast a duck and your self-esteem at the same time) and Will Sharpe (you know him from The White Lotus, aka the show that made you rethink vacations, marriage, and hotel spas) are officially joining forces for a brand-new series called Prodigies on Apple TV+.

And get this—Will Sharpe didn’t just show up and act cute, he created the show like a true overachiever. Meanwhile, Ayo isn’t just starring in it—she’s also executive producing, because obviously acting, writing, and being hilarious wasn’t enough. Now she wants the PowerPoint rights, too.

Here’s the scoop: Ayo plays Didi, and Will plays Ren, a pair of ex-child prodigies who were basically mini-Einsteins back in the day. Like spelling bee champs, mathlete royalty, or the kids who played Mozart at age six and then had an existential crisis at seven.

Flash forward to their 30s—now they’re just regular adults asking real questions like:
– “Did we peak in middle school?”
– “Is this IKEA furniture a metaphor for our relationship?”
– “Is Postmates a personality?”

Basically, they’re doing what we all do—spiraling, but make it premium streaming content.

Also, bonus content for the Ayo hive: she’s got a movie coming up with Andrew Garfield. So yes, she is thriving, and no, we’re not jealous (screams into a throw pillow).

Anyway, cancel your plans (or keep them, we’re not your mom), because Prodigies is gonna be the chaotic, tender, brilliant mess we all need in our lives. 🍿📺

More to come when Apple drops a trailer—or when Ayo inevitably steals the Emmys.
