Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater at the Stanley Cup Final? Talk about a power play!
The dynamic duo lit up Sunrise, Florida, on June 8, as they moseyed into the Amerant Bank Arena to catch the Florida Panthers battle the Edmonton Oilers. Forget the game; all eyes were on these two lovebirds.
Grande, a sprightly 30, and Slater, a chipper 32, were all giggles and grins, perched together in the stands during the first match of the championship series. Spoiler alert: the Panthers clawed their way to a 3-0 victory. Guess the Oilers left their mojo back in Edmonton.
As a proud Florida native, Grande was decked out in a Florida Panthers jersey, showing off her home-state pride. Slater, being the ultimate supportive boyfriend, sported a matching jersey. Nothing screams “we’re a couple” quite like coordinating hockey jerseys.
Grande, who just dropped the music video for her single “The Boy is Mine” (and let’s face it, probably dropped some jaws too), took to Instagram Stories to share the victory vibes. Her bestie, Courtney Chipolone, snapped a pic of the Panthers reveling in their win, and Grande was quick to repost. Because if it’s not on Instagram, did it even happen?
These two lovebirds first crossed paths on the set of Wicked last year. And just like in a Broadway plot twist, Grande’s divorce from Dalton Gomez was finalized in March, clearing the way for this new romance to take center stage.
Their Stanley Cup date night followed Grande’s enthusiastic cheering at Slater’s cozy gig at Café Carlyle in New York on May 28. Slater’s performance was a mix of Broadway hits, original tunes, and a sprinkling of Bob Dylan covers. According to a sneaky spectator, Grande was practically rolling in the aisles at his jokes between songs and cheering like a one-person fan club after each number.
Slater, reflecting on his “big year of change,” serenaded the audience with hits from Fiddler on the Roof and Pippin. He even hinted at his whirlwind romance, glancing lovingly at Grande while crooning about being “Lucky to be in love.” Aww, cue the collective “aww” from the crowd.
He even teased the audience by pretending he was about to belt out “Defying Gravity” from Wicked. Just as the crowd was on the edge of their seats, hoping Grande would join him for a magical duet, he cheekily switched to “If I Only Had a Heart” from The Wizard of Oz. The crowd erupted in laughter. Talk about keeping them on their toes!
All in all, it looks like Grande and Slater are having a ball, both on and off the ice. Who knew the Stanley Cup could be so romantic?
