Andrew Garfield Freaks Out Over Finally Working with Luca Guadagnino Like a Fanboy at a Taylor Swift Concert

Buy Me A Coffee

Andrew Garfield is LIVING HIS DREAM! The man has finally checked off a major bucket list item—working with legendary director Luca Guadagnino. And let me tell you, he is not chill about it at all.

Andrew, along with the ever-iconic Ayo Edebiri and the cinematic mastermind himself, Luca Guadagnino, graced the grand stage of CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas on April 2. They were there to hype up their upcoming thriller, After the Hunt, a movie that sounds like it’s going to be equal parts suspenseful and “OMG, we need to talk about this immediately” levels of drama.

The Plot: Messy Academia & Secrets Unraveling
The film stars Julia Roberts (yes, QUEEN Julia) as a college professor whose past decisions come back to haunt her when a student, played by Ayo Edebiri, drops a major accusation against one of her colleagues, played by—drumroll—Andrew Garfield. Sounds juicy, right? You just know this movie is going to be a wild ride of moral dilemmas, intense stares, and at least one scene where someone dramatically sips a glass of wine while making a life-altering decision.

Andrew Garfield = Luca Guadagnino’s #1 Fan
Now, back to Andrew being completely unhinged with excitement. On stage, he basically turned into that one friend who finally meets their celebrity crush and tries to keep it together but absolutely fails.

“I’ve wanted to work with Luca for 15, 20 years—which, by the way, is longer than some of you have even been alive!” he joked. (Okay, he didn’t actually say that last part, but it feels accurate.) He then proceeded to call Luca’s work “sumptuous, sensual, and life-affirming,” which, honestly, is also how I’d describe a perfect plate of pasta.

Ayo Edebiri Keeps It Real
While Andrew was in full-on fangirl mode, Ayo stepped in with her signature coolness and said, “This is a movie that’s built to see with other people, to talk about and discuss and just feel.” Translation: this film is going to have people arguing in group chats for weeks.

Coming Soon to a Theater Near You
Mark your calendars, because After the Hunt hits select theaters on October 10, with a wider release the following week. Expect mystery, drama, and at least one Garfield monologue that’ll have people whispering “Oscar buzz” before the credits even roll.

And remember, if Andrew Garfield can wait two decades to work with his dream director, you can wait six months to watch this masterpiece. Stay strong.
