Prepare yourselves, Adele fans! If you were hoping for new tunes to get you through your daily commute or those awkward family dinners, you’re out of luck. The songstress, famous for making us all cry in our cars, is wrapping up her Las Vegas residency, “Weekends With Adele,” this fall, and she’s made it clear she’s not hitting the studio anytime soon.
Yes, you read that right. The 36-year-old queen of heartbreak ballads is saying “Hello” to an indefinite hiatus from music. In an exclusive chat with German station ZDF, Adele revealed her master plan: “I don’t have any plans for new music, at all. I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
Translation: Adele’s going to do anything but sing for us. Maybe she’ll take up knitting, or start a pottery class. Who knows, maybe we’ll see Adele starring in the next season of “The Great British Bake Off.”
So, mark your calendars and grab your tissues because Adele’s final Las Vegas performance is set for late November. That’s right, two whole years after she first made the desert her musical playground. And just when you thought you could catch her on another continent, she’s teasing a few shows next month in Munich, Germany.
But after that, Adele is off to who-knows-where to do who-knows-what. Perhaps she’ll finally find out if there’s a limit to how many times one can listen to “Someone Like You” before it becomes physically impossible to cry anymore.
So, if you’re planning to beg her for new songs, you better do it fast! Until then, it looks like we’ll have to find someone else to make us ugly cry into our ice cream. Thanks for nothing, Adele!
