—“Somebody free these actors, they’re trapped in homeroom!”
Okay, class, take your seats because Miss Quinta Brunson just dropped some HOT tea about Abbott Elementary and it’s giving Drama Club meets Senioritis.
So apparently, filming Abbott Elementary is not just a job… it’s a full-time relationship. Like, “text me when you get home,” “what are we eating tonight,” “have you met my parents?” levels of committed. According to Queen Quinta (actor, creator, and Principal of the Sitcom Universe), the cast is booked and so busy that they don’t even have time to sneeze on another set.
“We shoot like SEVEN months out of the year,” she said, probably while drowning in lesson plans and emotional arcs. “That kinda makes it hard for people to do, you know… literally anything else.”
Translation: Everyone loves being in the show, but also… send help. These actors are locked in a classroom and can only leave when school’s out for the summer—and even then, summer school’s probably in session.
Quinta also said she’s out here reading scripts like Tinder profiles, just waiting to swipe right on a role that doesn’t scream “perky teacher with emotional damage.” She’s manifesting something juicier, darker, maybe even a little evil?? Someone get this woman a villain role or a gritty reboot where she plays a misunderstood dragon queen, stat.
“I wanna play against type,” she said, probably while wearing a very chic cardigan. “I’m over being ‘Janine.’ I want to be… unhinged.”
Same, bestie. Same.
Anyway, the show’s still a hit, fans are still obsessed, and the cast still slays. But behind the scenes? Everyone’s lowkey crawling to freedom like they’re in the final act of The Shawshank Redemption—but with better lighting and way more Emmy noms.
