Well, it looks like another Shakira concert is biting the dust – but don’t blame her iconic hip moves this time!
Just a week after postponing a show in Peru due to an “abdominal issue” (which we assume means too much belly-dancing for the general public to handle), Shakira has now been forced to hit pause on her Medellín, Colombia stop. And no, it’s not because she ran out of glitter or had an emergency wig malfunction – it’s because the venue’s roof is apparently having a midlife crisis.
The Roof Is (Literally) On the Verge of Collapse
The singer’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour was supposed to light up Medellín’s Atanasio Girardot Stadium on February 24, but instead of a night of hip-shaking magic, we got… structural instability. According to Billboard, the venue’s roof has taken one look at Shakira’s dance moves and decided it simply can’t handle that kind of energy.
“My people from Medellín! It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to,” Shakira posted on X (formerly known as Twitter, but let’s be honest, we all still call it Twitter).
She also added that her kids were excited to visit Medellín, proving that even the children of global superstars get disappointed when plans change. “I’m sorry for the inconvenience, especially for those who have traveled,” she wrote, basically telling her fans, “I feel your pain.”
Promoters Scramble to Fix the Mess
Meanwhile, concert promoter Páramo Presenta is now doing everything short of personally holding up the stadium roof with their bare hands. They’ve reassured fans that a new concert date is in the works and will be announced in the second half of the year. So if you were planning to see Shakira live, just think of this as an extended warm-up period.
“Assembling this show has been an adventure,” the promoters admitted, probably while stress-drinking coffee. “During the process, the stage roof suffered damage, and since we’d prefer the audience not to experience an impromptu game of ‘Dodge the Falling Debris,’ we’ve decided to reschedule.”
What’s Next?
If you’ve got tickets and you’re wondering what to do with them, head over to www.eticket.co for refund info or just keep them tucked away as a souvenir of “The Concert That Almost Was.”
In the meantime, Shakira has promised to return, and let’s be honest – when she does, that new roof better be reinforced with adamantium, because the woman does not play when it comes to putting on a show.
