Sabrina Carpenter is currently living her best pop star life with her new album Short n Sweet, and honestly, it’s about as short and sweet as a shot of espressoโ which, by no coincidence, happens to be the name of her lead single. Caffeine addicts, unite!
In a new interview, Sabrina, who is now 25 and fully embracing her quarter-life crisis, gave The Guardian the inside scoop on her latest hit. And let me tell you, itโs not about coffee. Itโs about something even more bitter: romance… or lack thereof.
“It was my ‘wish upon a star’ moment,” Sabrina shared, as if she were in a Disney movie but with significantly more sarcasm. “At the time, absolutely no one was falling at my feet or sending me good morning texts. No one was obsessed with me, which, letโs be honest, is quite rude of the universe.”
Apparently, Sabrina decided if no one was going to be head over heels for her, she’d just write a banger about it instead. “Iโve always been a little delusional like that,โ she admitted. Same, girl, same.
She also took a moment to talk about the joys of growing up in the social media fishbowl, where your every tweet, TikTok, and accidental screenshot is under scrutiny.
“Look, this wasnโt in the fine print when I signed up for life,” Sabrina said, looking like someone who just found out their Wi-Fi was down. โI mean, I didnโt exactly choose to be born in the Instagram era, but here we are. Iโm 25, I write about my life, and if that means live-tweeting my existential dread or turning ghosting into an anthem, so be it!โ
Despite all the chaos, Sabrina is here for it, even if she has to just shrug and say, “OK, guess this is happening.” With a sip of her metaphorical espresso, of course.
