‘Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills’ Star Kim Richards Placed On A Psychiatric Hold After Relapse

Buy Me A Coffee

So, remember Kim Richards? The 60-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum who’s had more ups and downs than a roller coaster? Well, according to the latest episode of “As The Reality Star Turns,” it looks like Kim has taken a bit of a tumble off the sobriety wagon. Yep, you read that right.

On Friday (Sept. 27), TMZ – AKA the modern-day town crier – dropped the bombshell that Kim had a less-than-pleasant family reunion with her sister, Kyle Richards. And by “less-than-pleasant,” I mean it was more awkward than running into your ex at a supermarket in your pajamas. The cherry on top? Kim reportedly ended up on a psychiatric hold. Yikes.

Let’s set the stage: Picture a quiet Wednesday evening (Sept. 25) in the Los Angeles ‘burbs. Kyle, the slightly younger sister at 55, owns a fancy house nearby. Enter Kim, stage left. She hadn’t lived there for a while, but apparently, she thought, “Why not stop by uninvited? What could go wrong?”

Well, a concerned neighbor, clearly having watched too much Cops, dialed 911, because Kim’s behavior was allegedly a little more unpredictable than usual. The police showed up, probably hoping for a calm evening but got wrapped up in a real-life soap opera instead.

Now, Kyle, in her best “exasperated sitcom sister” voice, allegedly told the officers, “Yeah, I don’t want her here.” Why? Because, plot twist, the family had supposedly cut Kim off, hoping she’d finally get back on the road to Soberville. And honestly, that road’s been bumpier than a dirt track in the middle of nowhere.

But wait, it gets better. Apparently, the cops shrugged and said, “Eh, sounds like a family squabble to us. File an eviction notice if you really want her gone.” So, as of now, Kim’s still crashing at Kyle’s pad, sipping metaphorical tea and waiting for the next dramatic development.

Oh, but this wasn’t the only headline-worthy incident for Kim in recent weeks. Earlier in September, she was allegedly spotted at a Hilton Hotel – and no, she wasn’t there for a relaxing staycation. According to TMZ (again, the trusty gossips), Kim was reportedly acting “incoherent.” Enter Kyle (yes, again), who apparently tried to smooth things over. But things went sideways, and Kim refused to leave, leading to her being placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold. Basically, a one-way ticket to Chill Town, population: Kim.

The house drama allegedly unfolded right after Kim got released from that hold. Timing is everything, I guess.

Now, if you’ve been keeping up with the Real Housewives franchise, you’ll know Kim’s struggles with substance abuse have been as public as a Times Square billboard. Back in 2011, Bravo even stepped in to cover her rehab bill, because nothing says “we care” like a reality TV network footing the bill for your recovery.

Fast forward to 2019, and Kyle was singing Bravo’s praises on The Jenny McCarthy Show, saying the show actually saved Kim’s life. Why? Because when you’re famous and battling addiction, apparently you can’t sneak a drink without half the country finding out. “There’s nowhere to hide!” Kyle exclaimed, probably a little relieved that her sister couldn’t pull any fast ones with the cameras constantly rolling.

As for Kyle’s current thoughts on the situation? She’s keeping quiet – for now. But if reality TV has taught us anything, it’s that silence never lasts long when there’s drama brewing.

Stay tuned. This Beverly Hills saga is far from over!
