Oprah Winfrey, the queen of talk shows and our hearts, found herself in a bit of a pickle this week—one that landed her in the hospital!
Her BFF extraordinaire, Gayle King, dropped this bombshell on live TV Tuesday morning (June 11). She was supposed to be interviewing author David Wroblewski about his Oprah Book Club pick, “Familiaris,” but Oprah was MIA. So where was our favorite media mogul?
Gayle, ever the candid confidante, spilled the beans. “Oprah had some kind of stomach thing—stomach flu. Stuff was coming out of both ends,” she said. Yes, both ends. Gayle was merciful enough not to get too graphic, but let’s just say it wasn’t a pretty picture.
“It was so bad she ended up in the hospital, severely dehydrated, and had to get an IV,” Gayle continued. “It was a very serious thing.” Serious indeed, but Gayle’s deadpan delivery had everyone chuckling.
Now, while this comedy gold aired live, the YouTube version was mysteriously trimmed. Clearly, someone out there didn’t want us laughing too hard at Oprah’s expense.
Meanwhile, Oprah’s rep gave a more buttoned-up statement to People magazine. “Ms. Winfrey is recovering following a stomach virus and received an IV due to dehydration at the recommendation of her doctor. She is resting and feeling better every day.”
Even media moguls aren’t immune to the occasional tummy turmoil. Here’s wishing Oprah a speedy recovery and hoping her stomach never stages a rebellion like this again!
