Madonna just dropped a bombshell at the 2024 LadyLand Festival in Brooklyn! The 65-year-old Queen of Pop, who’s as iconic as a rainbow at a unicorn parade, popped up like a fabulous jack-in-the-box late Saturday night (June 29) to sprinkle some extra glitter on NYC Pride.
At the witching hour of just before 1 AM on Sunday (June 30), Madonna strutted onto the main stage like it was her personal runway. She was there to be the Supreme Judge of the Vogue Ball House Battle, flanked by her celebrity comrades Bob the Drag Queen (her trusty sidekick on the Celebration Tour), Tokischa (her partner-in-crime on the bop “Hung Up on Tokischa”), Arca, and Sevdaliza.
Our Material Girl was rocking a white jumpsuit so sharp it could cut glass, which she flaunted on TikTok because why not? She cheerfully tossed up her scores like confetti and shared belly laughs with her fellow judges as four Houses battled it out in a fierce vogue-off, all orchestrated by Legendary’s Dashaun Wesley, Kevin Prodigy, and DJ MikeQ.
Meanwhile, in the VIP section, Julia Fox and Honey Dijon watched the showdown, probably sipping something fabulous and wondering if they could pull off Madonna’s jumpsuit look. As the Houses served up dance moves that could bring a disco ball to tears, Madonna took a moment to hit the runway herself. She delivered a brief, heartfelt speech to the roaring crowd, thanking everyone for coming and basically being fabulous.
“Aside from my birthday, New York Pride is the most important day of the year,” Madonna declared, probably causing a few folks to faint from sheer excitement.
She later took to Instagram, the modern-day town crier, to share her joy: “Divas to the dance floor, please!!!💃🕺🏾. Thank you to everyone who came out to support NYC pride at the @ladylandfestival !! 🗽🏳️🌈♥️💙💚💛 Love you all so much !!!!!!”
LadyLand Festival, the glittery lovechild of NYC nightlife dynamo Ladyfag, has been the playground for queer icons since 2018, featuring performances from superstars like Kim Petras and Christina Aguilera. This year, though, it was Madonna who stole the show, proving once again that she’s the reigning monarch of fabulousness.
