Kim Kardashian is taking a trip down memory lane—right back to the 72-day romance that still haunts group chats everywhere.
In case your pop culture memory needs a reboot, the 44-year-old reality mogul and the 40-year-old ex-NBA player got hitched on August 20, 2011, in a wedding that probably lasted longer than their actual marriage. By October 31—yes, Halloween—Kim had filed for divorce, making their union officially spookier than the holiday itself.
Now, in a new episode of The Kardashians (dropped on Thursday, March 13), Kim spilled some tea about her divorce settlement, specifically about that big ol’ 18-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring. Apparently, in order to finalize the divorce in 2013, she had to return the rock.
“I didn’t keep that,” Kim confessed. “In order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring.”
Oh, but here’s where it gets juicier—Kim also revealed that she, the bride-to-be, was the one who mostly paid for the ring, while Kris “contributed a fifth” of its cost. So, basically, the man chipped in like he was splitting an Uber ride.
Luckily, Kim’s longtime friend and celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz assured her that parting with the ring was for the best. (Which, let’s be real, we all could’ve told her back in 2011.)
Kim agreed but jokingly admitted, “I would’ve loved a collection” of engagement rings from her past relationships. And let’s not forget—she has options: first husband Damon Thomas (2000-2004), second husband Kris (ahem, 72 days), and third husband Kanye West (2014-2022). At this rate, she could’ve started a Kardashian Klassic Engagement Collection at Sotheby’s.
But hey, at least she’s got the memories…and probably some very expensive receipts.
