The “Joyride” queen recently hit the 1 billion streams milestone on Spotify with her legendary debut single “TiK ToK.” To celebrate, she decided to get a bit cheeky and brush her teeth with a bottle of Jack Daniels—right on top of her shiny new Spotify Billions plaque. Because why not? If you’re going to reach a billion streams, might as well do it with a splash of whiskey and a splash of dental hygiene.
In a glorious video that briefly showcases her “Timber” plaque (her top-streamed jam on Spotify), Kesha’s enthusiasm for her musical journey is as vibrant as ever.
“TiK ToK” just turned 15 this week, and it’s still rocking out with over 1.2 billion streams. Kesha took to Instagram to reflect on her song’s journey with a nostalgic flair:
“‘TiK ToK’ was the first single where my name and my voice joined forces in glorious harmony! I wanted to make something fun and happy because that’s how I felt, and guess what? That’s still how it makes me feel! It’s like a snapshot of my wild, playful self from 15 years ago. Back then, I was a naive little sprite, and this song is like a time capsule of that side of me. Now, I have to guard that side with my life—because, you know, life gets crazy.”
She also shared her excitement about a recent lyric tweak, thanking @reneerapp for the fresh new twist. “Yes, it’s permanent. I’ll re-record it when I get the legal thumbs-up! My first baby now symbolizes protecting fun and pure joy with my whole heart. This ride has been absolute bananas, but the JOY✨ keeps on trucking.
