Katy Perry Responds to Fake AI Photos of Her at Met Gala 2025 (Spoiler: She Wasn’t There)

Buy Me A Coffee

So, Katy Perry didn’t actually make it to the 2025 Met Gala—but if you were scrolling through Instagram, you’d be forgiven for thinking she was there, strutting down the red carpet in some very questionable AI-generated fashion.

The 40-year-old “Woman’s World” pop queen, known for her hilarious social media presence, decided to join the madness by reacting to the viral photos on Instagram, and naturally, it was a whole vibe.

Katy, who definitely wasn’t going to the Met Gala (sorry to disappoint, fashion gods), posted some of the AI-generated pics on her Insta and captioned them with: “Couldn’t make it to the MET.” Um, Katy—could we maybe get a real invite next year? She added a little extra sprinkle of humor by letting us know where she actually was: “I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL).” Yes, because nothing says “I’m living my best life” like getting caught in an AI-generated Met Gala drama while preparing to slay the stage.

And of course, last year’s Met Gala AI drama had Katy’s mom, Mary Perry, totally fooled by the photos, so Katy made sure to clear that up too: “P.s. this year I was actually with my mom so she’s safe from the bots but I’m praying for the rest of y’all.” That’s right, Katy’s mom is officially AI-resistant. (We all need those kinds of superpowers.)

Some fans were quick to praise the virtual stylist behind Katy’s AI outfits, with one person writing, “Whoever does Katy Perry‘s AI Met Gala fits eats every time.” Oh, and another user casually mentioned, “If I had a nickel every time an AI Katy Perry Met Gala look went viral, I’d have two, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.” (This is the type of relatable humor we can all get behind.)

So, while we’ll probably never see AI Katy Perry making a Met Gala appearance for real (unless someone in her camp gets really creative with some 3D holograms), at least she’s giving us all the laughs and letting us know she’s busy actually living her best life.

Check out the fake AI photos and the hilarious reactions below—just don’t let your mom believe them!
