Princess Catherine, a.k.a. Kate Middleton, is about to make her grand re-entry into the spotlight this weekend!
On a fine Friday (June 14), the illustrious 42-year-old Princess of Wales dropped a rare royal bombshell—er, statement—updating us on her ongoing showdown with cancer. And, spoiler alert, she’s totally showing up at the 2024 Trooping the Colour, King Charles’ birthday bash, this Sunday, June 16, flanked by hubby Prince William and their clan.
“I’ve been absolutely flabbergasted by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. Seriously, they’ve made a world of difference to William and me and have helped us both through some of the tougher times,” Kate penned on Instagram, probably while sipping tea and dodging corgis.
“I’m making good progress, but as anyone who’s been through chemotherapy knows, it’s a bit like playing a game of Whac-A-Mole with your energy levels. Some days, you’re ready to conquer the world. Other days, even a royal wave feels like a marathon,” Kate continued. “On those off days, you feel like a deflated balloon, ready to Netflix and chill with your bed. But on the good days, when you’re feeling mighty and powerful, you seize the moment like a knight in shining armor!”
She threw in, “My treatment is still ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel sprightly, I’m all about engaging with school life, indulging in hobbies that spark joy, and dabbling in a bit of work from home.”
Kate then confirmed, with the fanfare of a thousand trumpets, that she will be joining her fam at the Trooping the Colour this weekend. This marks her first public outing since her festive Christmas Day church stroll in December 2023. It’s also her debut appearance since she dropped the news of her cancer diagnosis in March.
“I’m absolutely jazzed to be attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and am hopeful to pop up at a few public engagements over the summer. But I’m also aware I’m not out of the enchanted forest yet,” Kate shared. “I’m learning to be as patient as a sloth on a lazy day, especially with all the uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and giving myself the grace to heal.”
She wrapped it all up with a royal flourish, “Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so courageously shared your stories with me. You’ve all got hearts of gold, and I’m ever so grateful.”
So, brace yourselves, Britain! The Princess of Wales is back, and she’s ready to bring the royal razzle-dazzle!
