Kate Cassidy, social media star and professional heartbreaker (of our hearts, not Liam’s—relax), has finally broken her silence about the tragic passing of Liam Payne. And let’s be real, none of us are emotionally prepared.
Appearing on Lorraine this morning, Kate, 25, got candid about the One Direction singer’s passing at the too-young age of 31. But here’s the thing—she’s still talking about him like he just texted her “wyd” five minutes ago.
“I find myself talking about him in the present tense all the time,” she admitted. “And honestly? I don’t even feel the need to correct myself. That’s just part of how I’m processing this.”
And honestly, who among us hasn’t spent the past few months pretending Liam is just on an extended spiritual retreat in the Himalayas and not… well, you know.
Kate got emotional as she explained, “Referring to him in the past tense makes it feel so much more real, and I’m not ready for that level of reality yet. Who gave grief permission to be this rude?”
Fair. Very fair.
She also admitted that getting out of bed has been a struggle, which, same, girl. She has “better days and harder days,” and apparently, so does her alarm clock, which is fighting for its life every morning.
But there is one furry little therapist who’s been helping her cope: Nala, the dog she shared with Liam. Turns out, needing to walk a dog is one of the few things that can override the desire to stay in bed scrolling through old texts and pretending to be productive.
“Even if it’s just a five-minute walk, it really helps clear my mind,” Kate said. “And prevents me from staring at my phone for hours like a Victorian widow longing for her lost love.” (Okay, she didn’t exactly say that, but we all know it’s true.)
She’s also been leaning on family, friends, and some good old-fashioned yoga to get through the tough days.
“I’ll always have so much love for him,” Kate added. “His presence was so comforting and warm… that’s something I’ll never forget.”
And now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be staring at old One Direction music videos and pretending the timeline where this never happened is the real one.
