Kanye West just dropped a new track, and it’s not just any track—it’s the kind of track that’ll make you question your life choices and consider a career in interpretive dance.
So, on the fateful night of August 2 (a night that will surely go down in history as “The Night of the Epic Yeezy Drop”), Kanye—who’s 47 but still thinks he’s 21—decided to grace us mere mortals with his latest musical masterpiece. He slyly uploaded the new single “Slide” on Yeezy.com, which is basically the music equivalent of throwing a surprise party that only you know about.
In this dazzling new track, Kanye teams up with Ty Dolla $ign and James Blake, because apparently, he was all like, “Hey, I want to make a song that sounds like a fever dream after eating too much cheese.” And, boy, did he deliver! Kanye spits lines like “She know what I like, got me in a twilight / Headed to the high-rise, cruisin’ like Eyes Wide Shut,” which, if you’re like me, sounds like he’s just really into obscure movie references and high-end real estate.
He continues with, “But I slide in it like a drive-by,” which is poetic and violent all at once. And for his grand finale, he decides to tell the industry that they can have a collective “likewise” with an extra helping of “wise” for good measure. Because why settle for one “wise” when you can have five?
This track is the kickoff to Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign’s highly anticipated sequel, “Vultures 2″—the album that’s so exclusive, it feels like they’re keeping it in a top-secret vault guarded by laser beams and ferocious kittens. Their previous project, “Vultures 1,” came out in February 2024, and was about as subtle as a neon sign that says “We’re Really Into Vultures.”
Oh, and here’s the kicker: the album is also featured a track with Kanye’s 11-year-old daughter, North West. Yes, you read that right. Because if anyone knows how to drop a fire track, it’s a kid who’s still figuring out long division.
