Somewhere in the multiverse, it’s still 2002 โ because Frankie Muniz just time-traveled right back into the middle of things… Malcolm in the Middle, to be exact.
The 39-year-old actor, who now moonlights as a full-time NASCAR driver (yes, seriously โ Dewey who?), dropped a spicy nostalgia bomb on Instagram this week. In it? A fresh new photo featuring the holy trinity of suburban chaos: Frankie, Bryan Cranston (aka everyone’s favorite dad-turned-drug lord-turned-dad again), and Jane Kaczmarek (who could ground you with a single eyebrow raise).
โAlways good to have Mom and Dad around!!โ Frankie wrote in the caption, clearly forgetting that these two made his fictional childhood a beautiful nightmare.
The image marks the first look at the long-whispered, now-confirmed Malcolm in the Middle reboot. Yes, it’s happening. No, you’re not dreaming. Yes, you’re old now. You’re welcome.
Production for the reboot kicked off earlier this month, and on April 12, Frankie gleefully announced filming would begin the very next day. Somewhere, Reese is setting something on fire to celebrate.
The four-episode reboot is being cooked up by the original series creator Linwood Boomer, whoโs back in the writerโs chair and probably still wondering how he managed to turn teenage rage into Emmy gold. The mini-series will be served hot and dysfunctional on Disney+, which means it’s only a matter of time before youโre binge-watching and yelling, โLois!!!โ like itโs 2005 again.
Grab your clip-on tie and emotionally prepare yourself โ the middle is back, baby.
