Paramount+ has just dropped the trailer for its newest spectacle, Landman! Picture this: Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, and Billy Bob Thornton, all wrangling their way through the wild, wild world of West Texas oil rigs, courtesy of Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind Yellowstone. If you’re wondering where the inspiration comes from, it’s based on Christian Wallace’s 2019 podcast “Boomtown,” which might have been better named “How to Get Rich Quick by Accident.”
So, what’s Landman about, you ask? Well, buckle up. Set in the dazzling (read: dusty and chaotic) boomtowns of West Texas, this series is like a soap opera set on an oil rig, with a mix of roughnecks who look like they’ve wrestled with a cactus and billionaires who’ve got more money than common sense. It’s an upstairs/downstairs drama where the downstairs crew are working their butts off while the upstairs guys are busy turning their oil-drenched dreams into geopolitical earthquakes. It’s so big, it’s practically shaking the planet!
Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 17, when Landman makes its grand debut with not one, but two episodes. After that, new episodes will come out weekly on Sundays, like a series of Sunday roasts but with more explosions and less gravy. And with a 10-episode season, you’ll have plenty of chances to watch these characters oil up their fortunes and possibly trigger a few climate crises along the way. Yeehaw!
