Dua Lipa is flexing her vocal cords again, but this time it’s not for a chart-topping hit—she’s raising her voice for the Palestinians in Gaza.
Last month, our favorite pop star turned Instagram activist and decided to repost an image from Artists4Ceasefire with the hashtag #AllEyesOnRafah. Her spicy caption? “Burning children alive can never be justified. The whole world is mobilizing to stop Israeli genocide. Please show your solidarity with Gaza.” Talk about not holding back!
In a recent chat, Dua explained that she’s speaking out for the “greater good” and is ready to take on any haters who come her way.
“When I speak about things that are political, I double-check, triple-check myself to be: ‘OK, this is about something that is way bigger than me and it’s necessary, and that’s the only reason I’m posting it.’ That is my only solace in doing that,” she spilled to Radio Times. “It’s always going to be met with a backlash and other people’s opinions, so it’s a big decision. I balance it out, because ultimately I feel it’s for the greater good, so I’m willing to take that.” Translation: Haters gonna hate, but Dua’s got receipts!
She also added, “Speaking up is just in my DNA, you know? Given my background and heritage, my very existence is somewhat political. So, this isn’t exactly a new gig for me.” In other words, Dua was born for this mic-dropping moment.
