In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Dua Lipa spilled the beans on her blossoming friendship with none other than John Cena. The Houdini singer hilariously exclaimed, “It’s like I’ve got a Cena-shaped shadow following me everywhere!”
Revealing the depth of their connection, Lipa confessed, “He’s become my go-to emotional support actor. Move over, therapy pets, John Cena is in town!”
The pop sensation, who shared the screen with Cena in the Barbie movie, couldn’t stop gushing about the experience. “It was absolutely fab! Working with John is like trying to juggle water balloons – unpredictable, slightly chaotic, but a whole lot of fun,” she said with a grin.
For those not in the know, Lipa and Cena’s friendship blossomed on the set of the Argylle movie, directed by the one and only Matthew Vaughn, hitting theaters in February 2024 (mark your calendars).
Meanwhile, Cena spilled the beans on the serendipity behind their collaboration during an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna. “It was a happy accident. I thought, why not crash the party and see if they’d let me join in on the movie madness?” Cena chuckled.
Lipa, always the multitasker, managed her cameo between tour dates. “Today, I’ll be transforming into a rainbow of characters with wigs and a mermaid tail. Tomorrow, I’ll be defying gravity on stage. Just your typical day in the life of a pop sensation,” she quipped.
Reflecting on the secrecy surrounding her Barbie movie escapade, Lipa added, “I felt like I was guarding the world’s biggest secret – from the song to the unexpected cameo. It was like being a spy, but with more glitter and fewer gadgets.”
