Demi Lovato just dropped a new jam! 🎤
On Friday the 13th (spooky, right?), the 32-year-old pop sensation unveiled her latest track, “You’ll Be OK, Kid.” It’s the heart-thumping anthem straight from her upcoming documentary, Child Star, which is basically the teen drama we never knew we needed.
Demi’s new single is like a motivational speech wrapped in a pop beat. “The sharks in the water will teach you to swim / The thorns on the roses will thicken your skin / People might hurt you and break promises,” she belts out. It’s like she’s saying, “Don’t worry, kid, even if you’re drowning and covered in rose thorns, you’ll be fine. Promise!”
In a deeply profound moment, Demi spilled her creative beans about writing the song while juggling the documentary, which she co-piloted with Nicola Marsh.
“Working on Child Star was like staring into a reflective pool, but with more drama and fewer ripples,” Demi confessed. “It was a rollercoaster of nostalgia, mixed with a splash of shared trauma. You know, the usual.”
As Demi was in the editing room, she felt so inspired she practically exploded into songwriting. “I decided to pen a heartfelt note to my inner child. It’s like sending a message in a bottle, except the bottle is a song and the message is ‘Hang in there, kid!’” she explained. “I hope others will find their inner child and give them a hug too.”
Mark your calendars because Child Star is hitting Hulu on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Grab some popcorn and get ready for a nostalgia-fueled trip down memory lane! 🎬🍿
