Blake Lively is out here running a fashion empire under the guise of “acting,” and honestly? We respect it.
Director Paul Feig, who’s bringing us Another Simple Favor (because apparently, one favor just wasn’t enough), spilled the tea on how Blake’s wardrobe choices practically directed themselves.
At SXSW, Paul gushed about Blake’s “spectacular” clothing ideas. And by “spectacular,” he meant “Blake does whatever she wants, and we just say yes because we know she’s right.”
This wardrobe wizardry comes just after It Ends With Us star and director Justin Baldoni dramatically accused Blake of absolutely annihilating his clothing budget. Picture him clutching receipts, tears in his eyes, as Blake casually swipes her AmEx for another couture ensemble.
Blake: The Unofficial Costume Designer
Paul reminisced about one of Blake’s genius ideas:
“So Blake walks in and goes, ‘I want my first outfit to look like a prison jumpsuit—but make it fashion.’ And at first, I was like, ‘Okay, that’s… interesting?’ But then, BAM, it was actually brilliant.”
Because of course, it was. This is the same woman who personally styles herself for every red carpet and makes Met Gala designers question their life choices.
And if you thought she was done there—oh no, my friend. Blake took a vacation in Capri, spotted a hat, and immediately turned it into an Another Simple Favor wardrobe essential.
“She comes back and goes, ‘I bought this hat. Can we put it in the movie?’” Paul said, probably still in awe. “And I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? That hat is starring in the movie.’”
He then went on to praise her natural movie star energy, recalling how she casually lifted the hat in a scene to reveal her face like a Hollywood queen making a grand entrance.
“You are such a f-cking movie star,” he reportedly told her, probably while dabbing away a single tear of cinematic joy.
Justin Baldoni vs. The Wardrobe Department
Meanwhile, Justin Baldoni is somewhere in a corner, holding a stack of unpaid invoices, lamenting the fact that Blake Lively ran away with his It Ends With Us costume budget.
According to him, Blake went full Gossip Girl mode, taking creative control and making her character’s wardrobe “much sexier.” The budget? An innocent casualty.
Look, the lesson here is simple: If you hire Blake Lively, just hand her a blank check and let her live her best fashion-forward life. Resistance is futile.
