Angelina Jolie just spilled some serious tea about her son Maddox, and it’s flying high—literally.
The 49-year-old Oscar-winner and part-time superheroine stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night (December 5) to chat about life, family, and why her kids apparently inherited her “overachiever gene.” During the interview, she casually dropped the bombshell that her eldest son is following in her footsteps. Or should we say, her flight path.
“Maddox is training to be a pilot, too,” she revealed, as if becoming a pilot is something you just wake up and decide to do. Oh, but wait—it gets better. “He actually is a pilot now,” she added, presumably while Jimmy Fallon’s jaw hit the floor.
Angelina went on to gush about her son’s airborne ambitions, saying, “He’s quite capable and always takes me by surprise.” Same, Angie, same. She then recounted a moment that probably shaved a few years off her life. “He’s been practicing flying, then they called me the other day and said, ‘So, Mad can go solo,’ and I nearly dropped the phone!”
Picture it: Angelina Jolie, the epitome of poise, clinging to her cell phone like the rest of us cling to Wi-Fi. We’ve got to wonder—was this a proud mom moment or an “I need a Xanax” moment?
For those keeping track at home, Maddox, 23, is the eldest of Angelina’s squad, which includes Pax, 21; Zahara, 19; Shiloh, 18; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16. She shares this talented, high-flying crew with her ex, Brad Pitt, proving that the Jolie-Pitt genes are not here to play.
So, what’s next for Maddox? Flying his siblings to brunch? Taxiing the family jet for a quick Whole Foods run? The sky’s the limit—literally.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are just over here trying to figure out how to not burn toast. Bravo, Maddox. Bravo.
