Andy Cohen is in the doghouse with Princess Catherine (or as we all know her, Kate Middleton), and he’s not wearing his crown of glory. The Bravo host found himself doing the royal dance of apology after he pulled a Sherlock Holmes and questioned Kate’s whereabouts.
Before Kate went public with her battle against the Big C, she and Prince William were spotted cruising around a farm store near their castle in Windsor, England. Cue the paparazzi frenzy! But when a video surfaced of the couple, some armchair detectives, including our dear Andy, weren’t buying it.
Andy took to the Twittersphere with a bold proclamation: “That ain’t Kate….” And if that wasn’t enough, he even set up a cheeky poll on his Instagram Story, asking the masses to play detective alongside him.
But lo and behold, as April Fool’s Day rolled around, Andy put on his jester’s cap and returned to his SiriusXM throne for Andy Cohen Live. And what did he do? He spilled his tea, of course, apologizing faster than a corgi chasing a bone.
“I just want to say, I am utterly distraught about Princess Kate,” Andy declared, revealing that his radio silence coincided perfectly with Kate’s bombshell announcement.
Feeling the heat like a scone fresh out of the oven, Andy admitted, “I think someone on Sky News called me a ‘numpty’ during that whole debacle, and they weren’t wrong!”
Then, in a moment of self-reflection fit for a Shakespearean soliloquy, Andy lamented, “I wish I’d kept my gob shut. We’re all crossing our fingers and our toes for Princess Kate and King Charles.”
Lesson learned, Andy. When it comes to royal mysteries, sometimes it’s best to leave the sleuthing to the Queen’s corgis.
