In the ongoing saga of American Idol: Judges Gone Wild, our space-bound queen Katy Perry recently yeeted herself into the stratosphere with a Blue Origin space trip. And while she was busy floating among the stars like a glittery intergalactic firework, her fellow Idol judges were firmly planted on Earth, clutching their snacks and saying, “Yeah, no thanks.”
Let’s start with Carrie Underwood, who slid into Katy’s judging seat like a country-singing ninja last season. When asked about hopping aboard a rocket ship, Carrie basically said, “Over my heaven-bound body.”
“The day I go to space will be when the good Lord decides my time on Earth is up and personally airlifts me home,” she told Access Hollywood, probably while polishing a rhinestone mic and blessing someone’s heart.
Translation: Carrie will not be booking an alien Airbnb anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Lionel Richie – national treasure and part-time philosopher of funk – had his own thoughts about the whole orbital adventure.
“My first thought? ‘Get out the capsule!’” Lionel exclaimed, sounding like a dad whose kid just jumped into a bouncy castle filled with rattlesnakes.
“Not because it’s unsafe,” he added. “I just don’t trust anything that starts with, ‘This has never been done before.’”
> Translation: He’s not here for beta testing space tourism.
As for whether Lionel would ever launch into orbit himself? Let’s just say the man has his hands full… walking.
“I’m already having trouble navigating Earth and gravity,” he said. “Just walking in a straight line these days feels like a Cirque du Soleil routine.”
Translation: Zero gravity? Sir, he can barely deal with one gravity.
Katy’s out there floating around like a cosmic pop diva while Carrie and Lionel are back on Earth, sipping sweet tea and respectfully declining the invitation to become galactic influencers.
Katy Perry = Space Queen.
Carrie = Grounded Angel.
Lionel = Earth’s Funky Grandpa who wants no part of any space shenanigans.
